Cincinnati uses Rumpke single-stream recycling - all recyclable items go in the cart together, no sorting required. The city provides recycling carts: 96-gallon carts (46" tall) for households of 3+ people, 64-gallon carts (41.5" tall) for 1-2 person households, and 35-gallon carts (37.5" tall) for residents with stair-only access or space constraints. Place recycling cart at curb no later than 6:00 AM on collection day but no earlier than 5:00 PM the day before. Collection occurs between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Remove cart from curb after collection. Keep carts 3 feet from other containers and obstructions.

Holiday Schedule

Cincinnati observes 7 holidays with NO trash, recycling, yard waste, or bulk collection: New Year's Day (January 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20), Presidents Day (February 17), Labor Day (September 1), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving Day (November 27), and Christmas Day (December 25). When your regular collection day falls on an observed holiday, your trash will be collected the following day. Collections for the remainder of that week are delayed one day. Place carts at curb no later than 6:00 AM on your collection day but no earlier than 5:00 PM the day before. Remove carts from curb after collection is complete.

Important Information

Cincinnati provides comprehensive waste collection services to over 130,000 residential households through a contract with Rumpke Waste & Recycling. Trash is collected weekly on the same day each week (Monday through Thursday, depending on your address). Recycling and yard waste (when in season) are collected every-other-week on the same day as trash. To find your specific collection day and week (A or B for recycling/yard waste), download the 311Cincy mobile app (available for iOS and Android), visit www.311cincy.com, or call 311 or (513) 591-6000. The city provides all carts and containers at no charge. Garbage carts, recycling carts, yard waste containers, and scheduled bulk items should be placed at the curb no later than 6:00 AM on collection day but no earlier than 5:00 PM the previous day. Collections occur between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Keep carts at least 3 feet from other containers, vehicles, mailboxes, and obstructions. Trash must be bagged and tied before placing in cart. Do not place trash outside the cart or overfill carts - lids must close completely. Multi-family buildings with 4+ units may have different collection arrangements.
