Drop-off recycling is available 24/7 at the Materials Recovery Facility at 7923 Tom Drive (assistance available Mon-Fri, 8 AM-5 PM). For address-specific collection schedules, visit the My Government Services portal at brla.gov or call 311.

Holiday Schedule

Solid waste and recycling collections are suspended on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a collection day, services will be provided on the next scheduled collection day unless otherwise notified. During Christmas week, expect possible delays in collection due to increased waste volumes - Monday and Tuesday collections may extend into the following morning. On New Year's Eve Day, garbage and recycling services remain active, and the North Landfill remains open for normal Saturday hours. Always verify your specific collection schedule during holiday weeks by visiting the My Government Services portal at brla.gov or calling 311.

Important Information

Baton Rouge waste collection is managed by the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge Department of Environmental Services with contracted services provided by Republic Services (garbage and recycling) and Richards Disposal (out-of-cart trash). The monthly fee of $35.23 (as of March 2023) covers twice-weekly garbage collection, once-weekly recycling collection, and once-weekly out-of-cart collection for bulk items and yard waste. Garbage and recycling carts must be placed curbside by 4:00 AM on collection day. Only resident-generated waste is accepted; commercial/contractor waste must be privately hauled.
