Place blue-lid recycling cart at curbside AFTER 6:00 PM the day before your scheduled collection day. Carts must be removed from curbside NO LATER THAN 11:00 PM on the scheduled collection day. All three carts are collected on the same day. Residents receive 12 free "Extra Service" stickers per year for overflow waste that doesn't fit in carts.

Holiday Schedule

Stockton curbside collection (trash, recycling, and organics) is affected by Christmas and New Year's holidays. If a holiday falls on a WEDNESDAY, residents with service on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday will receive service ONE DAY LATER than normal. If the holiday falls on a SATURDAY or SUNDAY, service remains on the regular collection day without delay. Collection operates normally on all other holidays including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. The San Joaquin County HHW Facility is CLOSED on Easter Sunday, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. For missed pickups, contact your service provider after collection hours: Republic Services (209-466-3604) or Waste Management (209-946-5711). Christmas trees are collected curbside for FREE during the special collection period from December 26 through January 17 - simply place unflocked trees (remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, and stands) at curbside on your regular collection day during this period. Flocked or fireproofed trees should be cut into smaller pieces and placed in your trash cart.

Important Information

Stockton operates a comprehensive 3-cart waste collection system serving single-family homes, duplexes, and triplexes through two franchised service providers: Republic Services (brown cart bodies) and Waste Management (green cart bodies). Residents can identify their provider by the COLOR OF THE CART BODY, NOT the lid color. Gray lid = trash (30, 60, or 90 gallons), Blue lid = single-stream recycling (60 gallons), Green lid = organics including yard waste and food scraps per California SB 1383 requirements (90 gallons). All carts are provided by the service providers. All three carts are collected on the SAME DAY but by DIFFERENT TRUCKS. To find your specific garbage collection day, visit the "About Your Address" page on StocktonRecycles.com. Place carts at curbside AFTER 6:00 PM the day before your scheduled collection day. Carts must be removed from curbside NO LATER THAN 11:00 PM on collection day. Space carts appropriately with handles facing the house and lids opening toward the street. Stockton is committed to SB 1383 compliance requiring 75% reduction of organic material in landfills by 2025 and recovering 20% of edible food for human consumption. The city provides 12 free extra service stickers per year for overflow waste, one free Clean Sweep bulk pickup annually (February-October), and free Christmas tree collection (December 26-January 17). Quarterly free e-waste collection events are held on the second Saturday of select months from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Visit StocktonRecycles.com for recycling guides, collection schedules, and service information. For questions about service, billing, or collection issues, contact your service provider: Republic Services at 209-466-3604 or Waste Management at 209-946-5711.
