Holiday Schedule

Holidays taking place Monday through Friday will result in a one-day delay of service for each day after the holiday. If your normal pickup day is affected by a holiday, collection will be pushed back one day that week. Christmas trees are collected FREE with normal trash pickup between January 2 through January 23 annually. Agua Mansa Transfer Station and HHW facilities are closed on major holidays. For holiday schedule updates, call (951) 826-5311 or visit the city website.

Important Information

The City of Riverside serves approximately 70,000+ residential customers with trash, recycling, and green waste collection services. Service is once per week on the same day for all three waste streams (trash, recycling, and green waste). Collection starts at 6:00 AM - ensure all bins are placed curbside by then. Effective July 1, 2023, some areas (La Sierra, University, and Orangecrest) are serviced by Athens Services under contract to the City. All other areas are managed by the Public Works Solid Waste Division. Riverside operates under California SB 1383 organic waste recycling mandates, requiring food scraps in green waste bins. To verify your specific collection day, use the Residential Collection Days Map or call (951) 826-5311. Maximum of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of HHW may be transported per vehicle per visit to HHW facilities. All HHW services are FREE for Riverside County residents. Riverside residents can access e-waste recycling at multiple locations including Agua Mansa Transfer Station (proof of residency required, no trailers longer than 10 feet).
