Important Information

Fremont operates a comprehensive 3-cart system: Gray cart for garbage, Blue cart for recycling, and Green cart for organics/yard waste. All carts collected on the same day weekly. Fremont is comprised of five original townships (Niles, Centerville, Irvington, Warm Springs, and Mission San Jose) which merged in 1956. The city is divided into six collection zones served by Republic Services. Collection starts at 6:00 AM and may occur anytime between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Set all carts at curb by 6:00 AM on collection day, no earlier than evening before. Place carts 3 feet apart with wheels facing your house and handles toward street. California SB 1383 requires all organic waste be diverted from landfills. Free compost giveaway events held periodically at Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station (41149 Boyce Road) for green cart program participants. For questions or service changes, contact Republic Services at 510-657-3500 or City of Fremont Environmental Services at 510-494-4570.
