All recyclables should be empty, clean, and dry. Place items LOOSE in the blue bin - do not bag recyclables. Flatten cardboard boxes to save space. Remove caps and lids from bottles and jars. Containers should be rinsed of food residue. Keep the blue bin free of contamination - food waste, liquids, and non-recyclable items reduce recycling quality and can cause loads to be rejected. Visit Republic Services website or call 714-238-2444 for specific recycling questions.

Holiday Schedule

When a holiday falls on a weekday (Monday-Friday) or Sunday, residential trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed ONE DAY for the remainder of that week. If the holiday falls on a Saturday, there will be NO DELAYS. Major holidays affecting collection: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Anaheim Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1071 N Blue Gum Street is closed on major holidays and rainy days. Collection times: Place bins curbside by 7:00 AM on your collection day. For holiday schedule questions, contact Republic Services at 714-238-2444.

Important Information

The City of Anaheim contracts with Republic Services (DBA Anaheim Disposal) to provide comprehensive waste collection services to approximately 90,000+ residential customers. All solid waste, recyclables, and yard waste/organics carts are collected weekly on the same day. Collection days vary by street and zone - use the online collection map at www.anaheim.net/477/Trash-Collection-Schedule-Map to find your specific collection day. Curbside collection begins at 7:00 AM, so place bins at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day and remove them by the end of the day. Bins should be placed 3 feet apart and away from obstacles. Anaheim follows California SB 1383 organic waste recycling mandates as of July 2023. Residents must separate food scraps from trash and place them in the brown organics bin along with yard waste. Violations of waste sorting requirements may result in fines. Maximum cart weights: 35-gallon (100 lbs), 64-gallon (200 lbs), 96-gallon (300 lbs). Republic Services operates a state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Anaheim that processes recyclables and organics. For service requests, missed pickups, or cart exchanges, contact Republic Services Customer Service at 714-238-2444.
